OUR PASTOR

Reverend Harrison B. Johnson, Jr. was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. He is the son of the late Harrison Johnson, Sr. and E. Virginia Johnson. He is a graduate of Lake Clifton/Eastern High School. Rev. Johnson also attended the Baltimore School for the Arts, where he majored in vocal music and continued his musical training at Morgan State University where he studied under world renowned maestro, the late Dr. Nathan Carter.

 

For more than twenty years, Rev. Johnson has been grateful for the call of ministry God has placed on his life. At the age of 14, Rev. Johnson began his service to the Lord as the musician for Oak Street A.M.E. Church. He has shared his gift of music with congregations throughout the city of Baltimore and abroad. Rev. Johnson serves as Minister of Music for The Baltimore Annual Conference of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, a member of the Baltimore Connection Choir, and Music Director for the Baltimore City Police Department’s Adult Choir.

 

Upon accepting his call to ministry and preaching his initial sermon, Rev. Johnson was licensed on December 22, 1996 at First Christian Community Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Rev. Dr. Ernest Humphrey. After intensive study, he was ordained an Elder on November 21, 1997 and set apart to preach the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Rev. Johnson has served as Assistant Pastor of First Christian Community Baptist Church as well as Youth Pastor and Minister of Music for Water’s A.M.E. Church. Rev. Johnson is a graduate of the United Baptist College & Seminary. He is currently a candidate for the Master’s program at the Grace Bible College and Seminary and a member of the United Baptist Pastor’s Conference of Baltimore & Vicinity.

 

Rev. Johnson is the Founder and Pastor of Word for Life Ministries which was established November 4, 2012.

Word 4 Life Ministries is a fellowship of Baptized Believers called together as a body to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Committed to the public worship of God, to inspire in all persons a love for Christ and their fellow man, a zest for righteousness and an awareness of their service to God through his Son Jesus Christ and therefore enter into a sacred covenant relationship with God and one another to show forth His Spirit in our Worship, Witness and Ministry toward the need of the parishioners, the community and the body of Christ.
